Doomsday Clock: A Countdown to our Distruction...

current time: seven minutes to midnight.

"The world-famous Doomsday Clock has been tracking the course of global security since 1947, its minute hand moving closer to and further from midnight to convey the dangers to the world of extraordinary and powerful weapons. Whether it be the apprehension that followed the first thermonuclear tests or the optimism accompanying the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Clock has tracked the prospects for human survival for nearly 60 years and is still ticking." - Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.

Cosmic catastrophe 'a certainty'

" The few who might survive will wish they had died, they will struggle, forlornly, on a wrecked planet" - Dr Arnon Dar.

Sooner or later, a catastrophe from space will wipe out almost all life on Earth. According to Dr Arnon Dar, of the Technion Space Research Institute, Israel, a particular type of exploding star going off anywhere in our region of the Universe would devastate our planet.

"Somehow order transforms into the need for killing" - Robert Musil

Change, transformation, uncertainty. With the help of more and more elaborated systems of securing, saftey, insurances we try to provide ourselves with protection against all upcoming eventualities. However, they are not able to prevent us from the disappointment that also human beings in their existence are subject to evolutionary principles.
