Faculty of Catastrophe Creation

"Destruction is creativity" Michail Bakunin

Overview:
The concept of destruction and creation have long gone hand-in-hand. C.I consider the implications of the beauty of chaos, the delight in horror and laughter in the face of fear.

Focus:
Situation-specific catastrophes applied in field experiments to anticipate the effects and causes.

faculty of catastrophe Prevention

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary" - Henry Louis Mencken

Overview:
Collective fears have haunted each generation - fear of disease, disempowerment, nuclear war, invasion, climate collapse, terrorism. What are the tools we have equipped ourselves with in order to survive? Can they be customised, adapted, improved in relation to the spaces we inhabit.

Focus:
An avoidance of catastrophe at any cost. Develop initiatives for action in preparation for a variety of impending disasters.

Faculty of natural Catastrophes

"The real war is not on terror. It's between nature and humans -
The end of the world as we know it, cutting edge, 14.06.05

Overview:
It's not a question of 'if' but when the delicate balance between nature and human progress buckles and something inevitably slides into the abyss. Should we sit back and wait or take action.

Focus:
Exploration of catastrophes which are caused without human influence.

Faculty of man-made Catastrophes

"I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And i can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it." -
Anonymous

Overview:
Self inflicted catastrophes occur on a daily basis, from small scale personal disasters to the impact of our collective behaviour in relation to the world at large.

Focus:
Explore the characteristics of all self-triggered catastrophes in the field of policy, society, economics and biography.
